Description

In Styria, a low-threshold social care service provides valuable support for parents and caregivers by facilitating the management of parental responsibilities and creating a nurturing environment for children and adolescents. The focus is on the positive development of young people as well as strengthening family relationships through individually tailored guidance. In cases of overload, caregivers receive relief, while children and adolescents are encouraged to adopt a motivating learning attitude and are offered academic support. Through preventive and accompanying measures, the service helps to identify risk situations early and sustainably safeguard the welfare of the child.

Funding is provided to non-profit, private child and youth welfare institutions with a written service agreement with the Styrian state government, which can demonstrate a valid care agreement with children and adolescents up to the end of compulsory schooling. In addition to official approval, the prerequisite is that there is a risk to the child's welfare or a limited parenting capacity due to ill parents. The form of financing is a grant and has been continuously and indefinitely available since 2014. This continuous funding framework enables institutions to establish sustainable services and flexibilize individual care forms. Interested organizations thus receive the foundation to specifically support families in challenging life situations and promote a positive future perspective for children and adolescents.
