Description
The Frankfurt Foundation for the Blind and Visually Impaired offers a specially tailored integration course in Hesse for blind and visually impaired immigrants, which is recognized by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). In the nine language modules (A1–B1, totaling 900 hours) as well as the 100-hour orientation course, German is taught using adapted materials—available in large print, Braille, or digital format. Certifications are obtained through the "German Test for Immigrants" (DTZ) and the "Living in Germany" (LiD) exam, with individual visual needs taken into account. Participation is possible at any time for eligible or obligated persons and is subsidized 100%, so no course fees apply.
The course is aimed at blind and visually impaired migrants and refugees who possess a BAMF, foreign authority, or job center notice for integration course participation. A prerequisite is independent travel to and from the course location at Adlerflychtstraße 8 in Frankfurt am Main, as well as basic skills in blindness techniques, which can be acquired beforehand if necessary. Through comprehensive language skill development and accompanying orientation training, social participation and professional integration opportunities are significantly improved. Interested parties submit their application along with the BAMF notice and proof of visual impairment and then easily arrange an assessment appointment—registrations are ongoing.
