Description
The Free State of Bavaria supports non-profit associations and organizations operating at the state level in conducting exercise programs in recreational sports for people with physical or intellectual disabilities, as well as in the participation of severely disabled persons (degree of disability ≥ 50) in supraregional sporting events. With a grant of up to €15 per one-day event and a funding rate of up to 60%, personnel, material, and travel costs are covered. The goal is to make sport accessible as an important component for health, social participation, and meaningful leisure activities. Funding is provided within the framework of available budgetary resources without any legal entitlement and is aimed at groups who cannot participate in generally accessible sports activities due to their disability.
A prerequisite for funding is the qualified, regular, and permanent implementation of the sports activities by professionally qualified instructors or therapeutic specialists. Participants should predominantly reside in Bavaria; exceptions of up to 20% are possible. Applications must be submitted through the Center Bavaria Family and Social Affairs (ZBFS) by no later than March 1 of the year following the funding period, using the application and accounting forms available there, as well as a report on the implementation and success of the measures. The selection of funded sports must ensure an appropriate supervision ratio (at least five participants per instructor) and must not entail disproportionate risk or cost. Provided the formal requirements are met, sports programs for people with disabilities can be sustainably expanded and their active participation at district, state, and federal levels strengthened.
