Description

The Ida and Otto Chelius Foundation supports innovative project ideas in Baden-Württemberg within the framework of the Sport & Teams program that sustainably strengthen the athletic collaboration of children and adolescents from diverse ethnic, social, cultural, and religious backgrounds. The focus is not only on physical activity but especially on the development of team spirit and social integration. Projects in Freiburg and the surrounding area that promote cooperation within school and club teams are particularly considered. The goal is to break down barriers, create valuable experiences for democratic coexistence, and deepen social cohesion through sporting activities.

Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations as well as educational institutions with project locations in Freiburg or the surrounding area. Funding is provided as a grant and can be applied for on an ongoing basis. A written application submission with a detailed project description and cost breakdown forms the basis for a decision, which is made by the board at least twice a year. Interested organizations may submit documents at any time; a formal preliminary registration is not required. This straightforward process offers the foundation flexible scope for planning and implementing measures with a special focus on an inclusive, intergenerational sports offering. The Ida and Otto Chelius Foundation supports the funded projects in a partnership manner and contributes to establishing the sporting experience as a driver for social participation and understanding of democracy.
