Sports Promotion of the District Town of Bergheim

The district town of Bergheim provides annual grants to strengthen locally rooted sports clubs and their young members. Funding is granted to non-profit clubs and interest groups based or active in Bergheim that promote club activities at the youth level and support elite youth sports. The focus is on activities of young athletes as well as the voluntary administrative costs of the city sports association. An informal online application must be submitted by March 31 of each year. The funding aims to enable active participation of young people on the one hand and to create the foundation for successful competition participation on the other.

The subsidy is granted as a contribution of up to 70% of the estimated expenses; up to 40% is possible for elite youth sports. Special grants for administrative costs can amount to up to €1,000. Eligible expenses include club activities at the youth level, participation in competitions at association, West German, and German youth championships, as well as the lump-sum expenses of the city sports association. Approval of the application depends on compliance with the sports funding guidelines, transparent evidence of sporting achievements, and the promotion of youth activities. The application must include the fully completed form, proof of membership numbers (as of January 1), as well as competition protocols or association confirmations. Applications submitted after the deadline will be excluded, as there is no legal entitlement to funding. Through this measure, Bergheim sustainably strengthens voluntary engagement and the performance capability of regional sports.
