Description

The sports promotion by the state government of Rhineland-Palatinate supports non-profit organizations, clubs, associations, as well as municipal sponsors in Rhineland-Palatinate with grants for the new construction, conversion, expansion, and renovation of sports facilities and infrastructure. Funding is provided, among others, for sports facility construction, grassroots sports projects, competitive sports, disabled sports, school sports, volunteer work, and the state initiative "Land in Motion." Up to 40% of eligible costs can be granted as an investment subsidy to non-municipal sponsors. The framework conditions are regulated in the Sports Promotion Guideline and the Administrative Regulation on Sports Facility Funding; applications can be submitted annually by February 1st through the municipality. Institutional funding of associations and Special Olympics Rhineland-Palatinate e. V. further strengthens sustainable structural development in state sports.

Requirements for funding include, among others, proof of non-profit status, ownership or long-term usage rights of the building plot, a reliable financing and financial capacity proof, as well as sports-related integration into regional sports facility planning. Recipients of funding must submit construction plans, cost calculations according to DIN 276, explanatory and construction descriptions, as well as official site and overview plans. Approval is granted by the Ministry of the Interior and for Sports of Rhineland-Palatinate based on an annual funding plan. Sports facilities must be used for their intended purpose for at least 20 years. Payments are made in installments according to construction progress; proof of use and documentation obligations ensure proper use of funds. The state funding thus makes an important contribution to inclusive, modern, and efficient sports infrastructures throughout Rhineland-Palatinate.
