Athletic Support

The Federal Ministry of Finance supports sports clubs in Vienna, whose members are employees of the ministry, with direct grants. The aim is to strengthen cohesion within the tax and customs administration, promote health, and increase motivation for extracurricular activities. Both ongoing sports operations and individual specially organized events are eligible for funding. Membership in the Federal Ministry as well as proof of incurred expenses constitute the essential requirements for funding. With a budgeted volume of €0.139 million (as of 2024), a continuous source of financing is available, with disbursement amounts documented and made transparent annually.

Applications can be submitted at any time, allowing flexible planning and implementation of sports offerings. The application is informal and requires submission of receipts for expenses related to sports operations or individual activities. Funded clubs contribute to strengthening solidarity through a broad range of recreational, social, and cultural events. The funding is based on the General Framework Guidelines for the Granting of Funding from Federal Funds (ARR 2014) and follows the established application principle. In this way, sports clubs in Vienna are sustainably strengthened and actively contribute to health prevention as well as identity formation in the public service.
