Sports Medical Examination

The state of Vorarlberg supports competitive athletes as well as performance and elite athletes with a 100% funding rate for sports medical examinations to ensure health-oriented and safe sports participation. Private individuals residing in Vorarlberg can apply for grants indefinitely from June 28, 2024. The basis for funding are the guidelines of the Vorarlberg state government, which provide for a comprehensive assessment of health status according to a defined tariff schedule. The allocation of funds is handled through a straightforward process: after the examination, the attending physician settles the bill directly with the Sports Department. The ÖGK and UNIQA additionally support this initiative.

Eligible to apply are athletes residing in Vorarlberg who are members of a local sports club belonging to a recognized regional sports federation. A prerequisite for the application is a fully completed tariff schedule including the stamp and signature of the sports club or federation, as well as a club confirmation. Only services in accordance with the published tariff schedule for sports medical examinations are funded. Applications can be submitted to the Sports Department at any time – without a deadline. This funding measure aims to facilitate access to qualified preventive examinations and to sustainably secure the performance capacity and health of athletes in Vorarlberg in the long term.
