Description

The sports facility funding program in Rhineland-Palatinate supports municipalities, sports clubs, and associations in new construction, conversions, expansions, and renovations of public and club-owned sports facilities. With grants covering 40% to 50% of eligible costs, the program significantly contributes to improving the infrastructural foundation for recreational, competitive, and disabled sports. Funded facilities include sports halls, sports fields, athletics facilities, functional buildings such as changing rooms and clubhouses, as well as indoor, outdoor, and natural swimming pools predominantly used for sports. Specialized facilities such as tennis, squash, and badminton halls, pump tracks, equestrian or shooting sports facilities, and intergenerational movement courses are also eligible investment measures. Approval is granted by the Supervisory and Service Directorate (ADD) Rhineland-Palatinate based on the administrative regulation for sports facility funding.

Eligible applicants are municipalities as well as sports clubs and associations whose sports facilities are either owned or leased with a remaining term of at least 20 years. Clubs must be members of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Sports Association. Eligible costs vary depending on the subprogram between €10,500 and an open maximum amount; for larger projects, a high ranking on the priority list of the local sports facility advisory board is required. The application must include the form "Application for Grant (44 VV-LHO)", the consent of the municipality, and, if applicable, additional checklist-based evidence. Applications can be submitted until February 1, 2027. By combining state funds and own contributions, sustainable and high-quality sports facility projects can be realized that strengthen club life and municipal infrastructure in the long term.
