Description

The sports facility funding in Rhineland-Palatinate supports municipalities, sports clubs, and associations with necessary new constructions, conversions, or expansions, as well as renovations of sports halls, sports fields, athletics facilities, sports function buildings, indoor and outdoor pools, and special sports facilities. Investment measures with eligible costs starting from 100,000 euros are funded, with a funding rate of up to 50% possible. Inclusion in the annual funding plan requires a high ranking on the priority list of the respective sports facility advisory board. The granting authority, the Supervisory and Service Directorate Rhineland-Palatinate (ADD Trier), places particular emphasis on urgency, financial capacity, and sports-related necessity. Eligible expenses include land and development costs, road and parking lot construction, general and special equipment, ancillary construction costs, as well as third-party services. Excluded are, among other things, land acquisition, development measures outside the sports grounds, pure maintenance expenses, and recreational or therapeutic baths. Funding applications must be submitted annually by February 1st.

Comprehensive documentation is required for the application, including the application form, explanatory report, DIN 276 cost calculation, site and location plans, proof of ownership or lease agreements with a remaining term of at least 20 years, as well as the consent of the municipality. Additionally, non-profit status, asset and debt overview, financing plan, and priority list must be attached. The evaluation considers cost-effectiveness, economy, as well as the type and extent of use, ensuring a needs-based, future-oriented sports infrastructure. This funding sustainably strengthens both performance-oriented and intergenerational movement offerings and further develops municipal sports landscapes to be future-proof.
