Description
In Vienna, the Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sports offers ongoing funding in the form of grants for national and international major sporting events. The objective is to further profile Austria as a host country and to highlight the positive effects on youth, elite, and grassroots sports. Eligible applicants include, in particular, interest groups, other associations, and public institutions, including federal sports associations or sports organizations designated under § 3 BSFG 2017. Eligible expenses include personnel costs, travel expenses, materials, entry fees, as well as investments in sports facilities; alcoholic beverages, tips, gifts, reminder fees, and retroactive costs are not recognized. Evaluation is based on impact parameters such as economic benefit, sustainable infrastructure effects, green sports aspects, and effects on sports development. Funding applications can be submitted continuously until the budget is exhausted.
The proof of use consists of a factual report on goal achievement and a numerical verification of all expenses using original receipts or electronic payment confirmations. In the area of performance and elite sports, a detailed financing plan as well as target indicators must be reported to make the success of the respective measures measurable. Reallocations within the approved funding areas are possible up to specified maximum limits without altering the purpose of the funding. Controls are conducted on a random basis by Bundes-Sport GmbH; in cases of documented special use, longer-term investments in sports infrastructure and their proportional refinancing may also be examined. Further information and forms are available in the officially provided application documents.
