Language Support for Preschool-Aged Children

In Hesse, there is a state program that supports public and non-profit providers of daycare centers as well as qualified training providers in supplementary language promotion measures. The goal is to specifically strengthen the language skills of kindergarten children with special support needs and to qualify the educational staff based on the Hessian Education and Upbringing Plan. Funding is provided for both direct support measures in daycare centers and training for professionals. The grant is provided as a subsidy to cover personnel and operating expenses, educational materials, and training costs. This approach bridges early childhood language education and a successful transition to primary school.

Eligible to apply are public, non-profit, and other suitable providers of daycare centers for children as well as training institutions that offer corresponding programs. A conceptual basis for the linguistic promotion of all children, the deployment of trained professionals, and the active involvement of parents as educational partners are prerequisites. Trainings must have a minimum duration of two days based on the Hessian Education and Upbringing Plan. Eligible expenses include personnel costs, material and operating costs, provision of educational materials, and training costs. Funding rates are up to €200 per child per year, up to €300 per facility for materials, and up to €150 per participant. Applications must be submitted continuously before the start of measures to the Darmstadt Regional Council and ensure straightforward processing.
