Description

The Stuttgart Children’s Foundation promotes everyday integrated language education in Baden-Württemberg with the free project Sprachfunken / Bücheralarm Mini – Podcast for Daycare Centers. The goal is to strengthen the language development of preschool children through dialogic reading aloud, child-appropriate book discussions, and the production of their own audio formats. In small groups of about eight children, enthusiasm for stories is sparked while educational professionals provide media-pedagogical impulses. A quiet room, a selected picture book, and the support of a familiar professional form the basis for the little ones to take the microphone themselves and express their experiences in their own podcasts. This innovative model combines early childhood education, media literacy, and language promotion into a sustainable experience and has already set valuable impulses in several Stuttgart daycare centers.

Daycare centers from Stuttgart and the surrounding area can request participation at any time, as ongoing funding opportunities are offered as grants for educational institutions. Requirements include an age- and language-mixed small group, signed consent forms from the legal guardians, and a suitable room for about one hour of recording time. The Stuttgart Children’s Foundation supports educational professionals in explaining technical procedures and flexibly responding to all group dynamics – from lively to shy to very attentive children. This way, audible successes are created with little effort, motivating entire institutions and promoting language competence in the long term. Inquiries can be directed to the project coordination at any time to easily become part of this creative language promotion program.
