Description
The urban development funding guidelines of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania offer municipal administrations in the state a long-term loan program to support integrated urban development projects. Funding is provided for preparatory studies, urban planning, and the acquisition, provision, and disposal of land. In addition, regulatory measures, construction work, as well as the modernization and renovation of private and municipal buildings are eligible expenditures. With a view to future-proof, sustainable neighborhoods, the program targets both infrastructural improvements and digital networking within Smart City strategies, while taking climate protection requirements into account. The funds originate from federal and state budgets and are provided in the form of low-interest loans to efficiently meet project volumes according to demand.
Only cities and municipalities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are eligible to apply, and they may pass on the funding to third parties—such as private owners or sponsoring organizations—if necessary. A prerequisite is the inclusion of the measure in the federal-state funding program and a swift, targeted implementation as an integrated urban development project. Applications must be submitted annually by January 15, with the municipal administration required to provide all documents and concepts necessary for funding eligibility. This program offers participating municipalities the opportunity to combine investments in infrastructure, urban maintenance, and digitalization, thereby sustainably addressing urban development deficiencies.
