Description
The program "Strengthening of Industry-Related Non-University Research Infrastructure" is aimed at non-profit non-university research institutions in Lower Saxony, primarily active in engineering and natural science disciplines, which promote knowledge and technology transfer to small and medium-sized enterprises. Investments in the establishment, expansion, extension, and modernization of industry-related infrastructure are funded with ERDF and GRW funds. Up to 90% of eligible expenses can be covered, depending on the allocation to RIS3 priority areas and the regional development level (transition region or more developed region). The project duration is up to 36 months, and eligible expenses must amount to at least EUR 200,000 at the time of approval. Investments in tangible and intangible assets are supported, while financing costs, acquisition costs for land, and deductible input VAT are excluded.
For an application via the NBank customer portal, proof must be provided of: a business establishment in Lower Saxony, professional and administrative competence, secured overall financing, and fulfillment of quality criteria according to the scoring model. Additionally, binding periods of up to ten years must be observed for new buildings and five years for equipment items. With regard to the implementation of Lower Saxony’s RIS3 strategy, the funding program offers an attractive opportunity to equip non-university research institutions for the future and sustainably strengthen the region’s innovative capacity.
