Description
The provision for inpatient accommodation in retirement and nursing homes according to § 5 K-PBG supports individuals in need of care or supervision with their main residence or habitual abode in Carinthia. All expenses arising from accommodation, meals, as well as care and assistance in an approved facility are funded, provided that adequate care outside of inpatient facilities is not possible or reasonable. The funding is granted as a 100% subsidy for those costs that cannot be covered by personal funds or third-party benefits. The measure has been in effect indefinitely since January 1, 2023, and is available to all private individuals who require support due to their income or asset status. The service aims to minimize the financial burden in geriatric departments and retirement homes and to sustainably secure the quality of life of people in need of care.
Eligible applicants include Austrian citizens, asylum beneficiaries, or persons with permanent residence of at least five years, whose need is demonstrated in accordance with §§ 16 and 17 K-PBG. Furthermore, accommodation in a facility approved under the Carinthian Home Act or in geriatric departments of hospitals with an existing agreement is required. For the application, detailed evidence of all income sources (earned income, pensions, maintenance payments, rental income, etc.) as well as already received transfer benefits (e.g., care allowance) must be submitted. Applications can be submitted continuously, ensuring timely decisions and punctual disbursement of funds. Experts in case management of the state government review each application individually to ensure tailored and needs-based care.
