Foundation Awards / Monument Prize (Foundation of the German Castles Association)

The Foundation Awards / Monument Prize of the Foundation of the German Castles Association has honored outstanding achievements in the field of monument preservation for castles, palaces, and manor houses from 2006 to 2013. Nationwide, non-profit organizations, associations, interest groups, and private individuals can submit applications to be recognized for exemplary restoration, refurbishment, and preservation of historic cultural heritage. The award-winning projects document exemplary commitment to monument protection and represent the highest quality standards in monument preservation practice. Regularly published award editions have recognized, among others, the Kletkamp Estate (2013), Großbodungen Castle (2011), and Liedberg Palace (2010).

With the Monument Prize, the Foundation aims to anchor the significance of historic buildings in the cultural memory and to encourage imitation projects. Owners, initiatives, and associations who have distinguished themselves through sustainable care and professional restoration of castles, palaces, and manor houses are publicly acknowledged through the award. The award ceremony also provides a platform for the exchange of expertise and promotes networking among monument conservators, experts, and funding institutions. By highlighting exemplary renovation concepts, the Monument Prize makes an important contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage throughout Germany.
