Scholarship Funding (William G. Kerckhoff Foundation)

The scholarship funding of the William G. Kerckhoff Foundation is aimed at outstanding early-career researchers in Germany who are engaged in the doctoral phase with innovative therapeutic concepts related to the heart, lungs, and blood vessels. The nationwide open call supports projects in the fields of research & innovation, science, education & training, health, as well as work & social affairs. Application requirements include an ongoing doctoral project in the specified research area and proof of scientific excellence through publications and letters of recommendation. Awards are granted on an ongoing basis as a prize/distinction and specifically promote forward-looking approaches to improving cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine. The focus is on the innovation potential of the project, the applicant’s professional qualifications, and the significance of the research for patient-relevant issues.

An extensive project description must be submitted with the application, supplemented by a CV, list of publications, and at least one letter of recommendation. There is no fixed submission deadline – applications can be submitted electronically at any time via the foundation’s website. Through continuous support of early-career researchers, the foundation aims to sustainably strengthen basic research in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine. Interested doctoral candidates thus receive valuable financial and non-material support to efficiently advance their scientific projects and contribute in the long term to the improvement of cardiopulmonary therapeutic procedures.
