The maximum funding duration is 36 months with a total funding amount of up to €18,000. Eligibility requires German or EEA citizenship, enrollment at a German university from the 3rd year of study, and proof of success in the First Section of the Medical Examination. Concurrently, a contractual obligation is undertaken to work as a contracted physician in underserved regions of Saxony-Anhalt for at least two years (up to 24 months of funding) or three years (over 24 months of funding) after completing specialist training.
Applications can be submitted continuously and are processed through the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians of Saxony-Anhalt. Required documents include, among others, a copy of the identity card, current enrollment certificate, certified examination records, a letter of motivation, and a signed declaration of commitment specifying the target region. The KVSA handles the scholarship disbursement and annually verifies compliance with the funding requirements and obligations. The program specifically addresses the shortage of skilled professionals in structurally weak areas while simultaneously promoting the training of future physicians to ensure comprehensive outpatient care throughout Saxony-Anhalt in the long term.
