Description

The Caritas Community Foundation in the Archdiocese of Berlin supports talented young people who are pursuing an academic or vocational career in social professions and live in Berlin, Brandenburg, or Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Funding is provided to orphans, half-orphans, social orphans, as well as children of single parents working within the Caritas context, aged 14 to 27, who demonstrate financial need and very good to good academic performance. The goal is to strengthen the next generation in fields such as social work, social pedagogy, educational sciences, nursing and health management, as well as training in elderly and nursing care and child and youth welfare, and to recognize social commitment in the long term.

The program offers one-time grants of up to €2,000 for work materials (e.g., PC, specialized literature) and monthly subsidies of up to €400 over a period of 12 months – an extension is possible upon request. Awards are made based on individual case evaluations considering talent, financial need, and voluntary engagement. Application documents can be submitted at any time and include, among others, an informal statement of circumstances, motivation letter, CV, proof of orphan or social orphan status, academic records, financial overview, and references regarding social commitment. Decisions are made by the foundation’s board. With the continuous possibility to apply, the program offers a flexible funding perspective for dedicated emerging professionals in social occupations.
