Description
The Foundation for Unexploded Ordnance-Free Living Space supports students of all disciplines nationwide (especially geophysics, geosciences, chemistry, physics, biology, geography, archaeology, and history) in the final phase of their studies (bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate) whose scientific work has a clear connection to unexploded ordnance clearance. The aim of this award is to support young scientists both professionally and financially, thereby enabling innovative research results for the safe clearance and further development of living spaces. The foundation accompanies the scholarship recipients from topic selection to the publication of their final thesis, thus making a sustainable contribution to environmental and nature conservation as well as to the provision of damage-free areas for future generations.
In addition to professional supervision by internal experts, funding covers the acquisition of specialist literature, rental and lending of measuring devices, as well as travel expenses for field campaigns and research stays. Furthermore, the foundation reimburses participation fees for relevant professional conferences and has its own test field that enables experimental series under realistic conditions. The continuously open application process requires enrollment in the relevant degree program and a thematic focus of the final thesis on unexploded ordnance clearance. Selection is based on the scientific quality of the submitted exposés and their concrete relevance to ordnance disposal. This creates a vibrant culture of support that brings together the specialists and leaders of tomorrow in an exciting, interdisciplinary research environment.
