Funding objective

Description

The Gerd and Gisela Wäger Foundation annually supports young people from the Hamburg area in their vocational training and further education in the healthcare sector. Funding is provided to trainees, dual students, and participants in advanced training measures who are not eligible for state training support and whose average monthly income does not exceed the remuneration of nursing trainees in their 3rd year of training (TVAöD-Nursing). Special attention is given to social need in order to enable equitable educational opportunities. Grants are awarded as a monthly allowance of €200 or as a lump sum for stays abroad of up to €2,000, regardless of the training provider or employer.

The following documents are required for an application: a motivation letter including a description of the financial situation, a personal declaration regarding the funding requirements, a curriculum vitae, enrollment certificate or proof of training, as well as a statement confirming the absence of other funding. Applications can be submitted at any time and are reviewed at the end of each quarter (e.g., 31.12.2025, 31.03.2026, 30.06.2026). Feedback with approval or rejection will be provided at the beginning of the following quarter. Through this transparent procedure, the foundation contributes to sustainably strengthening the professional prospects of young people in the Hanseatic city.
