Description
Within the framework of a nationwide open funding program, the responsible federal ministry provides financial resources as a grant to relieve students and graduates of regular university, university of applied sciences, or private university studies. The aim is to compensate for social hardships and special study difficulties as well as to support costs for housing, stays abroad, or the preparation of scientific and artistic works. Eligible for funding are private individuals who can prove proper enrollment and demonstrate, through appropriate documents, that extraordinary burdens exist. Applications can be submitted each winter semester between September 20 and December 15, and each summer semester from February 20 to May 15; furthermore, an application takes effect from the month of submission.
The purpose of the funding includes, among other things, the compensation of rental costs, tuition fees according to the Study Funding Act 1992, as well as the support of studies at border-adjacent non-Austrian and distance universities. A proof of enrollment and documentation of housing costs, stays abroad, or planned scientific work are required. For the application, the completed application form SB 1, a confirmation of enrollment, and further evidence related to the respective support points are needed. Expert bodies within the private administration review the submitted documents and approve the funding as soon as the formal requirements are met.
