Description
Subsidy for the establishment and maintenance of natural flower meadows: In the field of environment/nature conservation as well as energy efficiency and climate protection, the city of Villach supports farmers with business premises in the city area of Carinthia with a grant for the near-natural establishment and maintenance of flower meadows. The use of regional seed mixtures is supported to promote site-appropriate plant species. These sustainably established flowering areas make a significant contribution to preserving the biological diversity of the native flora and promote the health of both wild bees and honeybees alike. The funding is unlimited and can be applied for continuously since January 1, 2019. The year-round availability of this funding offer provides long-term planning security for extensively managed areas.
For approval, proof of sowing within the Villach city area is mandatory, for example by submitting the corresponding invoice. Another prerequisite is the decision of the Committee for Health, Environment, and Nature Conservation, which decides on the allocation of the grant. This funding model financially relieves farmers in the procurement of seed and maintenance of biotopes, complemented by extensive grassland management, which simultaneously increases energy efficiency in agricultural operations, and enables a consistent focus on environmentally friendly farming methods. As a contribution to municipal climate protection, the subsidy promotes the revival of flowering corridors and makes a visible contribution to strengthening ecological networks in the region. Eligible farms can contribute their commitment without deadline pressure and thus actively help preserve biodiversity.
