Tackling gender-based violence against politically active women and LGBTIQ people

The Horizon Europe research project Tackling gender-based violence against politically active women and LGBTIQ people supports transnational studies aimed at identifying, preventing, and combating gender-based violence against politically engaged women and LGBTIQ individuals. It addresses not only the diverse forms of politically motivated violence online and offline (ranging from cyberbullying to physical assaults) but also highlights intersectional aspects such as ethnic origin, disability, or age. The objective is to develop evidence-based policy recommendations, formulate inclusive media guidelines, and create an environment that promotes the democratic participation of women and LGBTIQ persons. In close collaboration with relevant stakeholders from civil society, politics, and academia, qualitative and quantitative methods are combined to understand the mechanisms of violence and derive effective countermeasures.

Funding is provided to educational institutions, companies, non-profit, and public organizations from EU member states and associated countries that participate in a consortium with at least three independent partners from different countries. The funding amount is up to €4 million, with a funding rate of 100%. Eligible costs include personnel expenses, material costs, travel expenses, and subcontractor services. Projects must submit a clearly structured work plan with milestones and deliverables, as well as integrate an ethics and dissemination plan. Evaluation criteria include the degree of innovation, relevance to the target group, and quality and efficiency of implementation. The submission deadline is September 23, 2026, with the project start planned from May 2026.
