Description

The day care center of the Scheuern Foundation in Rhineland-Palatinate is aimed at adults with severe intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, behavioral challenges, or mental illness, for whom employment in a workshop for disabled people is not an option. Additionally, special programs are offered for seniors with disabilities who, after retirement, still require daily structure and social interaction. In individually planned individual and small group activities, participants discover new skills, strengthen their self-confidence, and experience social participation without performance or time pressure. Alongside creative and domestic activities, the program includes excursions, encounters with people without disabilities, as well as initial insights into work processes of companies and institutions. This systematically prepares perspectives for a possible transition into working life.

Funding is provided in the form of a grant from the Scheuern Foundation and is offered indefinitely. Applications for cost coverage can be submitted at any time to the responsible service provider; admission requires the approval of the cost bearer. Funded are participation goals recorded in the individual participation plan, as well as the development of social skills and practical life abilities. To apply, a formal application for cost coverage and the official confirmation from the cost bearer must be submitted. Through the day care center, participants receive sustainable support that focuses on their personal strengths and helps them actively engage in social life.
