Description
Since January 1, 2014, the Fonds Soziales Wien (FSW) has provided an unlimited grant to top up the monthly remaining pocket money of residents in Viennese residential and nursing homes to the minimum amount stipulated by regulation. This continuous funding offer in the social and health sector is aimed at privately admitted persons with their main residence in Vienna, whose own contribution from care and support services falls below the prescribed pocket money level. The goal of this measure is to ensure financial participation in everyday life and to provide all cared-for persons with a reliable amount of money for discretionary use. This supplementary benefit cushions the costs of care and support and maintains a minimum standard of self-determination.
The funding requirements include a valid approval notice from the FSW, proof of residence in a Viennese residential or nursing home, and main residence in Vienna. There is no application deadline; applications can be submitted at any time. Decisions are made promptly based on submitted evidence of income and care costs. The ongoing allocation of grants creates reliable planning for all eligible persons. As a central social institution of the City of Vienna with an annual budget of approximately €2.56 billion and about 2,600 employees, the Fonds Soziales Wien, in cooperation with around 170 partner organizations, ensures rapid, unbureaucratic support for approximately 145,000 clients annually in the areas of care, support, and basic provision.
