Description

The taz Panter Volunteering Program offers a unique opportunity within the framework of an 18-month training for people with diverse life backgrounds who are often underrepresented in traditional editorial offices. The program of the taz Panter Foundation aims to strengthen diversity in the German media landscape by integrating career changers – for example, women with migration backgrounds or individuals without an academic career – into journalistic practice. During the funding phase, the volunteers learn the craft of journalism in a nationwide media environment while simultaneously bringing new perspectives and creative approaches to the editorial team. As a sponsorship initiative, the foundation supports the participants not only professionally but also enables cultural exchange and engagement for social cohesion and democracy.

The program is aimed at private individuals who have not yet completed a traditional journalistic training and whose biographical backgrounds have rarely found entry into established editorial offices. The participation requirements include underrepresented life paths in journalism and no traditional journalistic training. Interested parties can look forward to comprehensive journalistic support in the fields of media, education & training, culture & media, as well as work & social affairs. Applications for the current round have already closed; a new call for applications is expected in spring 2026. This funding opportunity offers an effective platform for all those who wish to develop their journalistic talents and simultaneously enrich diversity in German media in a sustainable way.
