Description

The Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation continuously awards participation scholarships for highly qualified early-career researchers in the field of physics and related natural sciences. In cooperation with the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings Foundation, the Falling Walls Foundation, and the German Society of Natural Scientists and Physicians (GDNÄ), awards in the form of prize money are granted to enable attendance at selected specialist events. Funding is provided, among others, for up to 50 early-career researchers as "Heraeus Fellows" at the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, 20 participants at the "International Conference on Future Breakthroughs in Science and Society" in Berlin, as well as prize-winning contributions at the biennial meetings of the GDNÄ. The initiative aims to offer young researchers interdisciplinary exchange, networking among experts, and the opportunity to present their own results at the highest scientific level.

Awarding is made exclusively upon nomination by universities or research institutes; self-application is excluded. An independent expert jury composed of physics professors and DPG trusted lecturers selects candidates based on outstanding scientific achievements. Funding requirements include the institutional nomination resolution, legal review by experts, and proof of scientific excellence. This continuous funding opportunity is aimed at individuals in Germany and underscores the Foundation's commitment to sustainably support early-career scientists and open up international career prospects.
