Funding objective

The Free State of Thuringia, with the support of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), promotes youth voluntary services as an educational and orientation year for young people. The Thuringia Year includes a Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) in the areas of social affairs, health, youth, school, culture, sports, and monument preservation, as well as a Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) in the fields of sustainable development and nature and environmental protection.

Description

The "Thuringia Year" represents a modern educational and orientation year for young people, supported by the Free State of Thuringia with funds from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+). Providers of youth voluntary services in Thuringia can apply for grants of up to 60% of the recognized total expenses for a Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) in the fields of social affairs, health, youth, school, culture, sports, and monument preservation, as well as for a Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) in sustainable development and nature and environmental protection. The funding measure covers a period of 12 months and can be extended up to 18 months to ensure participants receive comprehensive educational and practical support.

Eligible applicants include authorized associations and organizations under the Act on the Promotion of Youth Voluntary Services (JFDG) that can demonstrate an overall concept including educational support and a seminar system. A contractual commitment to provide a monthly allowance of €350 as well as the assurance of continuous support are prerequisites. Participants must have completed full-time compulsory schooling, reside in the Free State during the service, and be no older than 27 years at the end of the service. The professional management and accounting of the project are the responsibility of the providers. Applications must be submitted to the Thuringian State Administration Office (TLVwA) by April 30 of the respective approval year.
