Description
The Thuringia Scholarship supports specialist medical trainees in the Free State of Thuringia with a one-time, tax-free grant of up to €15,000 per full-time training position. Funding is provided to physicians during their outpatient and/or inpatient training phases in Thuringia to ensure outpatient care is aligned with demand and to retain young specialists in the region over the long term. The Foundation for the Promotion of Outpatient Medical Care in the Free State of Thuringia grants the subsidy continuously, enabling reliable financial planning throughout the entire training period. The maximum funding duration is based on the regulations of the Thuringian State Medical Association and amounts to up to 60 or 72 months.
Interested specialist trainees in selected disciplines submit an informal application along with the application form, valid statutes, and training certificate to the Foundation – applications can be submitted at any time. The funding amount is calculated proportionally for part-time employment and begins in the month following receipt of the application. A prerequisite is specialist training in Thuringia, both in the outpatient and inpatient phases. By accepting the grant, scholarship recipients commit to working for at least four years after completing their training with a minimum weekly working time of 20 hours in contracted medical care in Thuringia. The Thuringia Scholarship thus makes a long-term contribution to ensuring comprehensive medical care in the region and specifically supports physicians during their qualification.
