Veterinary Emergency Service for Livestock

The veterinary emergency service for livestock in Vorarlberg supports comprehensive care on weekends and public holidays through financial subsidies. The program rewards the willingness of veterinarians to provide emergency services in the seven supply regions of the federal state. Funding is provided as a directly subsidized service and contributes to ensuring a veterinary emergency service available around the clock. Semi-annual application rounds after completion of the respective on-call service ensure prompt and transparent processing.

Eligible to apply are veterinarians who, in agreement with the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government, provide on-call services for livestock. The scheduling is contractually determined in consultation with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Areas. The following documents must be submitted for the application: the service contract, the completed funding application, as well as supplementary annexes 1 and 2. Submission is possible no later than six months after the emergency service has been provided. Through this structure, the program enables continuous support of veterinary care in rural areas and contributes to strengthening agriculture and rural development in Vorarlberg.
