Description
The Animal Custodian Funding in Upper Austria supports associations, private individuals, and public institutions that operate animal custodianships according to the state's guidelines. As an ongoing subsidy measure, it has been promoting projects for the species-appropriate care of found and shelter animals since 01.01.2021, up to the exhaustion of the funding volume. In this process, the State of Upper Austria cooperates closely with regional partners and animal protection organizations to establish and continuously develop the necessary infrastructures. Through targeted financial incentives, a sustainable network of qualified animal custodians is being built, enabling optimal care and placement of sheltered animals with new owners.
The aim of the funding is to prevent animal suffering and pain, disseminate animal welfare-related knowledge, and promote positive coexistence between humans and animals. Measures that comply with the Animal Protection Special Housing Ordinance and the statewide applicable funding guidelines are supported. Beneficiaries must submit a project description, a financial plan, and a proof of use. Local animal protection organizations particularly benefit from this funding to ensure safe accommodation for found animals and to implement sustainable placement concepts. The Animal Custodian Funding thus makes an important contribution to an animal welfare-oriented infrastructure throughout Upper Austria.
