Description
The Future Foundation for Agriculture provides financial support through its Animal Breeding Fund to non-profit organizations throughout Germany for projects promoting species-appropriate animal breeding. The goal is to support and network initiatives that pursue healthy, regional, and biodiversity-enhancing breeding lines—such as breeding robust animals free from genetically fixed burdens or developing alternatives to biotechnical reproduction technologies. Applications can be submitted continuously; approved grants typically range between €500 and €5,000. The funding aims to enable practical model projects on agricultural enterprises and, in cooperation with related research and breeding projects, to set new impulses.
Only institutions with a valid exemption certificate (not older than three years) and corresponding statutes are eligible for funding. Application review considers formal completeness, degree of innovation, and alignment with the foundation’s core values. A complete application includes the signed application form, a cost and financing plan, proof of non-profit status, an excerpt from the association or commercial register (not older than five years), as well as the accountability report from the last fiscal year. The award decision is made by the fund’s sponsoring circle through a circulation procedure and is usually communicated within two months. Through transparent criteria and a practice-oriented approach, the fund supports non-profit actors in implementing sustainable and animal welfare-oriented breeding concepts in agriculture.
