Tourism Incentive Program for Tourist Infrastructure

The Tourism Incentive Program for Tourist Infrastructure in Upper Austria supports companies, public institutions, non-profit organizations, and private individuals in the construction, expansion, and modernization of regional tourist infrastructure facilities. Funding is provided for new constructions and adaptations of hiking and cycling trails, viewpoints, visitor centers, or similar facilities, as well as for the contemporary technical equipment of tourism offices. A key requirement is the proper or voluntary membership in an Upper Austria tourism association or the conclusion of a cooperation agreement with "Upper Austria Tourism." Projects must fully comply with the content and guidelines of the Tourism Coursebook Upper Austria 2011–2016. Applications must be submitted to the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government before the project begins and are granted as non-repayable subsidies. Eligible costs include planning, construction, and equipment expenses related to regional tourist infrastructure measures.

Interested stakeholders have access to the online forms provided by the State of Upper Austria. In addition to the completed funding application, a detailed project description with defined objectives and a transparent cost and financing plan must be submitted. Support and review are carried out by the Directorate for Regional Planning, Economic and Rural Development, Department of Economy and Research, which acts as a central interface between politics, administration, and business. The aim of the program is to strengthen rural areas, enhance the quality of tourist offerings, and create long-term sustainable development prospects for the tourism regions of Upper Austria. The subsidy enables the realization of innovative projects that contribute to improved infrastructure and a modern service offering for guests and locals alike.
