Description

The award "Trainer of the Year in Equestrian Sports 2026," presented by the DOKR Trainer Academy and the German Equestrian Sports Foundation, honors outstanding trainers throughout Germany. With a prize money of €1,500, the initiative recognizes professional and volunteer trainers in both youth development and elite levels of equestrian sports. The focus is on contributions to animal welfare, fair play, and a partnership-based understanding between human and horse, which significantly contribute to the athletes' success. The application and nomination phase runs from May 6, 2026 to September 30, 2026. Trainer personalities whose efforts behind the scenes often make the difference between good and exceptional sport are thus brought into the spotlight and publicly acknowledged.

A prerequisite for application is active coaching activity in German equestrian sports, especially in youth development or elite sports. The jury evaluates, in addition to the sporting successes of the athletes coached, special circumstances in which trainers were intensively challenged, as well as stories that impressively demonstrate their commitment. A complete application includes the filled application form, proof of sporting achievements, and a letter of justification regarding the coaching performance; photo and video material may be submitted additionally. Interested parties should send their documents to the DOKR Trainer Academy within the specified period. This recognition offers a platform to highlight and sustainably honor the often invisible but crucial work of trainers in German equestrian sports.
