Transfer Bonus supports technology-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises in Berlin in cooperating with publicly funded or non-profit research and scientific institutions as well as designer and XR-/gamification service providers. The goal is the market-ready development of new or qualitatively improved products, services, and production processes. Projects involving technology and knowledge transfer as well as design and gamification transfer are funded. In the entry-level variant, external scientific questions are subsidized 100% up to a maximum of €7,500. In the standard variants, up to 70% of eligible expenses are eligible for funding, in the area of digitization even up to €45,000 per project. The project duration is up to twelve months; applications can be submitted online at any time; the program runs until December 31, 2026.

Eligible for funding are technology-oriented EU SMEs with headquarters or a branch in Berlin whose activities correspond to a positive list of the joint task "Improvement of the regional economic structure." A prerequisite is the classification of the project as applied research and development, secured overall financing, and project start only after approval. Eligible expenses include services for external scientific questions, research and development activities, design services, as well as measures for gamification, virtual and augmented reality. Standard commercial R&D and consulting offers are excluded. For the application, a detailed project description, offers from the cooperating institution, an excerpt from the trade or commercial register, a copy of the identity card of the authorized signatory, final reports of previously funded projects, and – for legal entities – proof of registration in the transparency database are required.
