Description
The Tucher Fellowship of the Tucher Cultural Foundation in cooperation with the Germanic National Museum supports outstanding doctoral projects in the field of cultural history of the German-speaking area every two years. For a period of six months, the funded doctoral candidates receive a monthly stipend of €1,500. During the research stay at the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg, they have access to workspaces within the institution as well as professional supervision by the scientific staff. Additionally, they have free access to the museum’s collections and the opportunity to participate in internal events and the general volunteer training program. The fellowship aims to enable innovative contributions to the study of cultural-historical questions and to strengthen academic exchange in an inspiring environment.
Funding is provided to privately enrolled doctoral candidates at universities in Bavaria and beyond, whose dissertations have a clear connection to the cultural history of the German-speaking area. A particular focus is placed on research that ideally draws upon the holdings of the patrician Tucher family. The application deadline corresponds to the end of the respective funding year; the next application period will open in 2026 and last several weeks. Award decisions are based on the quality of the research project, its relation to the Tucher holdings, and the overall relevance to cultural-historical issues. The fellowship is open to all disciplines with a cultural-historical focus and emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches as well as international networking.
