Description
The one-time transitional payment granted by the accident insurance in Vienna serves to provide economic security for insured persons suspected of having an occupational disease or after the expiration of an existing transitional pension. Instead of a transitional pension granted for up to two years, an appropriate lump sum may be paid out depending on individual needs, which does not exceed the value of the annual full pension. This voluntary benefit without legal entitlement complements social security and enables short-term financial support for necessary measures such as job changes or retraining to prevent the onset of illness. The funding has been continuously offered since 01.01.2013 and can be applied for at any time.
Eligibility for funding includes all privately insured persons residing in Vienna who either have a suspected occupational disease or whose transitional pension has already expired. Applications are submitted informally to the responsible social insurance carrier; proof of suspected occupational disease or the end of the current transitional pension is required. As a grant, the benefit does not count towards the funded budget volume, as it is granted under the legal provisions of § 211 ASVG. The goal is to create a seamless financial transition that supports affected individuals in implementing further rehabilitation or retraining measures without financial hardship, thereby facilitating their professional reintegration.
