Description

The Ulla Johansen Scholarship of the DAAD Foundation is aimed at doctoral candidates in the fields of ethnology as well as musicology, social sciences, linguistics, and history. Over a period of six months, the scholarship holders have the opportunity to advance their independent research projects in Germany while simultaneously gaining valuable intercultural experience. By linking academic work with personal exchange, the program promotes not only scholarly excellence but also understanding between different cultures. The scholarship holders benefit from a structured support program tailored to the specific requirements of their dissertation and facilitating the development of an international network.

Eligible applicants are private individuals enrolled in doctoral studies in the aforementioned disciplines, with a clearly defined project plan and a strong motivation for intercultural dialogue. The research scholarship is awarded on a rolling basis, allowing applications to be submitted at any time. The DAAD Foundation’s goal is to support young researchers and contribute to the long-term international networking of German universities. The scholarship includes a monthly allowance as well as a contribution towards travel expenses and necessary local costs.
