Description
The Environmental Remediation of Contaminated Sites program continuously supports measures for the remediation and securing of contaminated sites officially designated under the Contaminated Sites Atlas Regulation in Vienna. Funding is provided for all phases of the project – from investigations and planning to construction, clearance, and disposal services, as well as ancillary services, evidence preservation and restoration measures, and operating costs – with a duration of up to 60 months. The goal is to preserve and improve environmental quality and biodiversity, as well as to protect humans and the environment from hazards posed by contaminated sites. The grant rate depends on the priority class and responsibility, ranging from 55% to 95% of eligible costs (De minimis aid), with a maximum of 300,000 euros. Applications can be submitted at any time via the online platform of Kommunalkredit Public Consulting (KPC), with a preliminary application required before the start of measures (except for investigations and planning).
Eligible applicants are primarily owners and authorized persons of properties with contaminated sites, parties obligated to remediate under the Trade Regulation Act, Water Rights Act, or Waste Management Act, as well as – regardless of legal relationship to the contaminated sites – municipalities, municipal associations, waste associations, and federal states. A prerequisite is contamination prior to 01.07.1989, official designation in the Contaminated Sites Atlas, and timely submission of the application. Evaluation is based on ecological impact, economic feasibility, and operational efficiency. For the application, among other documents, a variant analysis, cost catalog, funding extent form, technical data sheet, an appraisal regarding the increase in property value, and a list of contracts and in-house services are required. Interested project sponsors are invited to utilize the funding for sustainable remediation of contaminated sites in Vienna.
