Description
In Graz, individuals, companies, non-profit organizations, and public institutions within the city area of Styria can, for the first time, implement ecologically modern facade greening and receive a subsidy amounting to 70% of the eligible installation costs, up to a maximum of €7,000 per property. The program supports the environmentally and climate-friendly enhancement of urban spaces by greening facade surfaces according to the latest state-of-the-art technology. Applications are possible between 01.01.2025 and 31.12.2026, with the invoice date at submission not older than three months. The measure not only promotes aesthetics but also contributes to improving the microclimate and reducing CO₂ emissions.
A prerequisite for funding is a facade greening implemented for the first time with a minimum area of 30 m², visible from public traffic areas. Outbuildings as well as residential buildings with fewer than five residential units are excluded. For facade-bound systems, a fully automatic irrigation system is mandatory, and thermal insulation layers must not be impaired by climbing aids. Planning and execution must be carried out by qualified experts. Eligible expenses include climbing aids, substrate, plants, planting containers (≥ 200 l volume), structural creation of planting spaces, as well as consulting and planning costs. After disbursement, a minimum usage period of five years must be observed. This program offers an attractive opportunity to design urban living spaces more sustainably and to reduce urban heat islands.
