Description

The Environmental Promotion – Boiler Replacement 2026 offers private owners and users of single- and two-family homes, terraced houses, as well as multi-storey residential buildings throughout Austria an attractive subsidy for replacing fossil heating systems. Priority funding is given to the connection to highly efficient or climate-friendly local and district heating systems. If this is technically or economically unreasonable, the program supports the switch to central wood heating systems (wood chips, logs, pellets) or the installation of a heat pump. The funding rate amounts to up to 50% of the investment as well as planning and installation costs. A prerequisite for a successful application is the professional installation by an authorized specialist, invoicing from the cut-off date of 03.10.2025, and the submission of an energy consulting report upon registration. Only one water-based central heating system per location may be funded; multiple subsidies are excluded.

Applications can be submitted online from 24.11.2025 until 31.12.2026 at the latest or until budget funds are exhausted. Required documents include the energy consulting report, invoices, and proof of professional installation. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environment, Regions and Water Management (Department VI/7) ensures a transparent process together with Kommunalkredit Public Consulting (KPC). This initiative promotes climate-friendly heating systems to sustainably reduce CO₂ emissions in residential buildings and make an important contribution to nationwide climate protection in Austria.
