Environmentally Friendly Products

Environmentally Friendly Products promote the development of durable consumer goods in Germany that minimize resource consumption and reduce negative environmental impacts. Supported products include, among others, furniture, electronic devices, household items, textiles, vehicles, or toys with extended usage cycles. Eligible applicants are companies, start-ups, foundations, cooperatives, educational institutions, non-profit and public organizations. Designed as a grant, the program supports innovations in the areas of environmental/nature conservation, climate protection, research & innovation, digitalization, as well as energy efficiency & climate protection. Applications can be submitted continuously. The goal is to strengthen the acceptance of sustainable product concepts in business and society and to accompany the societal value shift towards resource-conserving consumption. Thus, the funding offer makes an important contribution to establishing a circular economy and long-term value creation in Germany.

Fundable are projects related to methodological product development, the design of resource-efficient components over the entire life cycle, innovative business models, as well as the digital optimization of production processes (e.g., Internet of Things, decentralized manufacturing). Also supported are concepts for the further use and recycling of used materials, as well as educational and acceptance measures, especially for children and young people. Selection is based on the criteria of innovation content, resource efficiency, life cycle consideration, and societal acceptance. The funding measure targets actors who test new circular economy solutions or digital processes for durable consumer goods. Applications can be submitted at any time. The grant facilitates the implementation of forward-looking approaches and creates an incentive for sustainable business practices.
