Description
The Ungethüm-Aesculap Scholarship of the B. BRAUN FOUNDATION is aimed at internationally active surgeons from Africa, Asia, and Latin America who wish to deepen their expertise in medical technology in Germany. The goal of the fellowship is to promote intercultural scientific exchange and to strengthen innovative medical-technical procedures in surgical practice. Up to €25,000 is awarded per scholarship to cover living expenses, accommodation, material and publication costs, travel expenses, as well as taxes and insurance. The selected fellows undertake research and training stays at German university hospitals and ideally cooperate with engineering faculties. The decision on the award is based on an expert-led selection process focusing on professional benefit, the goal orientation of the measure, and a comprehensible cost and financing plan.
Funding is provided to surgeons with at least two to three years of experience in clinical research in the fields of general and trauma surgery, neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, plastic surgery, or thoracic surgery. Requirements include proven medical qualification, independent scientific and surgical activity, as well as adequate communication skills in the host country. The application requires a letter of motivation, a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a program with expected outcomes, references from employer and cooperation partner, as well as a detailed cost and financing plan. Application periods are annually from March 1 to April 30 and from September 1 to October 31. Notification of approval will be provided by July at the latest for spring submissions and by December for autumn submissions.
