Description
The EU initiative for the Uptake of FAIR Data Management Practices and of EOSC by Research Communities and Research Infrastructures (EOSC Partnership) promotes the widespread adoption of FAIR data management practices and the seamless integration of research institutions into the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) in two phases. With a total budget of €40 million, the grant targets small and medium-sized enterprises, non-profit organizations, universities, start-ups, as well as public institutions that are networked within European research communities or European research infrastructures. A prerequisite is the participation of at least three independent organizations from different EU member states or associated countries, demonstrable experience in data management and EOSC, and the willingness to pass on funds to third parties. Eligible costs include personnel expenses, material costs, subcontractor services, and expenses for third-party funding, excluding the acquisition of real estate and infrastructure operating costs. The deadline for submitting full proposals is June 16, 2026.
The objective is to provide FAIR-compliant datasets in EOSC-relevant repositories through open science projects with cascade funding mechanisms, to develop interoperable services, and to network research-related communities through training programs and competence centers. Evaluation criteria include scientific excellence and innovation, the impact potential of EOSC integration, as well as the quality and efficiency of implementation. The 100% funding rate and the exemplary peer-review process for third-party funding circles enable a risk-appropriate distribution of funds and strengthen underrepresented scientific fields. Through close cooperation with the EOSC Partnership network and relevant EU projects, a sustainable embedding of the results in the EOSC federation is pursued.
