Vacation with the Family (Family Recreation) – Daniel Schnakenberg Foundation

The Daniel Schnakenberg Foundation enables low-income families as well as single parents residing in the city of Bremen to enjoy a restorative break through financial support for vacation stays. Funding is provided for stays of up to 21 days in non-profit accommodations within Germany. A subsidy of up to €15 per day and family member may be granted. This ensures that families with limited income can realize joint recreational activities without financial barriers diminishing the restorative value. The funding covers the areas of social affairs, children and youth, as well as labor and social services, and is open to private individuals who meet the eligibility criteria.

Applicants must have at least one child under the age of 17 living in the family and must provide proof of primary residence in Bremen. An application can be submitted every two years and requires the submission of a completed application form, current income statements, and the booking confirmation of the chosen accommodation. Evaluation is based on the amount of net income. Applications can be submitted at any time, as funding is awarded continuously. Upon positive review, subsidies are usually transferred directly to the accommodation two weeks before the start of the trip. This provides families and single parents in Bremen with an uncomplicated opportunity to undertake affordable recreational trips and spend valuable time together.
