Description
The VDI Joachim Herz Technology Fund supports projects nationwide aimed at technical general education (STEM education) for children and adolescents at general education schools as well as extracurricular learning locations. With a maximum amount of up to €3,000 per project, only material costs for technical materials and equipment are subsidized. The funding rate is 100%, and the maximum duration is 24 months. The goal is to design practical, experimental teaching sequences and extracurricular offerings based on sound didactic principles and to anchor them sustainably in everyday education. Technology-oriented concepts should not only spark interest but also promote talents and support career orientation.
Eligible to apply are domestic general education schools, non-profit organizations, interest groups, or other associations that submit an electronically completed application together with their respective management. A coherent technology-didactic concept is required, demonstrating a clear complement to regular teaching, sustainability, and target group relevance. Personnel, travel, rental, or event costs are not funded. An independent awarding committee continuously decides based on established criteria such as didactics, sustainability, and talent promotion. Upon successful project completion, a brief final report must be submitted for evaluation and documentation of the impact.
