Description
The funding program “Processing, Marketing, and Market Development in Lower Austria” is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises in the agricultural and food sector engaged in primary production, processing, or marketing of agricultural products. The objective is the targeted adaptation of supply to market requirements as well as the strengthening of awareness for regional products. Grants covering 65% to 80% support investments in tangible and intangible assets – for example, the acquisition or modernization of production buildings, internal building wiring measures, the purchase of machinery, software solutions, and patents. Participation in competitions, fairs, and exhibitions as well as publications for public relations are also eligible for funding, provided they are neutral and oriented towards the common good.
Costs for architects’, engineers’, and consultants’ fees, sustainability consulting, or feasibility studies can also be claimed. Excluded are expenses for biofuel production from food crops, as well as working capital and promotional individual measures benefiting specific companies or brands. Applications can be submitted until December 31, 2029. Only net costs are eligible for funding, provided no input tax deduction applies. The application must include information on company size, project description with timeline, location, a breakdown of eligible costs, and the amount of requested public funds. Processing is carried out by the Office of the Lower Austrian State Government, Department of Agricultural Funding (LF3). A positive conclusion of a required environmental impact assessment procedure is a prerequisite for environmentally relevant investments. The funding strengthens regional value creation, improves market opportunities, and contributes to the sustainable development of the agricultural and food sector in Lower Austria.
