Description
“Voices of Brandenburg” is a six-month journalistic coaching program by the Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb) that targets private emerging talents from the state of Brandenburg without prior journalistic training. Through a financial grant, five to seven participants have the opportunity to complete practical placements in renowned editorial offices and contribute their perspectives to German journalism. With workshops on research, storytelling, and media ethics, as well as individual support from experienced mentors, the program provides access to education and training in the fields of media, culture, democracy promotion, and social cohesion.
This initiative is funded as part of sustainable media support to establish greater diversity in editorial teams and to dismantle structural barriers. A prerequisite is residency in Brandenburg and the absence of previous journalistic training. Participants benefit from an intensive network of practical partners as well as a financial scholarship that enables full focus on the coaching. Through direct insight into processes at regional and national media outlets, new perspectives on work and social issues emerge, which contribute in the long term to balanced reporting in German editorial offices.
